Welcome to Fireflies Class.
Our class teacher is Miss Phillips and our teaching assistant is Miss Andrew.
In Firefly Class, the children have lots and lots of fun every day. Daily they are busy exploring the different areas in our classroom, both inside and outside. Inside the classroom, children have access to paint, craft materials, sand and water in our shared area with Butterfly Class. Outside children can explore the sandpit, mud kitchen and large construction materials.
Firefly class have settled into school life brilliantly and we are looking forward to spending the rest of the year with them!
In Firefly Class, we share stories as a class daily.
This is a great opportunity for the children to hear brilliant vocabulary, visit new places and learn about the world. We have a quiet and cozy reading area for the children to use to practice their reading, share a story with a friend or adult or use the puppets to create their own stories.During our communication, language and literacy sessions, we look at the characters, setting and meaning of the stories we share, using story maps, descriptive language and role play to help us understand the story.
We have Read Write Inc sessions every day in Firefly class, these are to help us to learn our sounds so we can begin to read and write. Children in Firefly Class are given Read Write Inc reading and writing books to take home with them to practice their skills at home with their grown-ups.
Throughout the year we learn about lots of different topics, focusing on the events which will be happening in the world around us, such as religious festivals, changing seasons and our local area.
We make sure to share any news and children’s learning with grown-ups on class dojo and tapestry.
